WEEK2

elevator intention

the ups and downs of the elevator, resemble the ups and downs of the clients life in which they had to go through to reach success, and ultimately, the last frame of the elevator rises above all to highlight success.
the elevator moving horizontally, also suggest progression in life. instead of having an evator moving up and down at the same point., with now purpose
This movement of the elevator also resembles the typical business line graph, showing profits/sales.
i also intend to allow the elvator to detach, when moving, some components moving earlier than others. the elvator is made up of 3 L shapes. one the top L moves up first, and than the bottom L moves after that, after the first 2 Ls reach the key frame, the 3rd L will reunite with them. this is then repeated throughout the journey, in a different order. this is done to further enhance the idea of a variety of "building blocks" which are achieved as u progress to success.

The elevator pitch
something slightly off topic, regarding how, elevators are used with "multimillionaire investors"
" during the crucial time during the long elevator trip
"contestants pitch their business ideas to 5 multimillionaire investors in an effort to acquire the funding they need to make their business come to life."

this alludes to the idea of making the most of everysingle second during the elevators journey

News articles of clients for Exp3

Ratan Tata
"He's not even considered the most powerful businessman in India...
And when London-based steelmaker Corus agreed to his takeover bid in October, he had arrived on the global arena."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/6071090.stm
http://www.spiegel.de/international/business/0,1518,476262,00.html

My interpretation
My research shows Ratan Tata, as an unpredictable man. Who would i thought that he studied architecture? and become one of the most powerful businessman in India.
however he went throught many ups and downs in his life, as he lost money, and regained it back again. His journey towards his power, consisted of many stages and risk, which could be seen as building blocks.

Zhang Yin
"As she is now one of China’s highest-profile wealthy citizens, she has reason to be wary. Those who make the infamous “China Rich List” have a tendency to be scapegoated by the government."

http://www.womenlifestyle.com/entry/zhang-yin-worlds-richest-self-made-woman-entrepreneur/

My interpretation
Athough she may face risk of being a scapegoat. She is not scared as she believes herself to be honest. She seems to be noble and caring about her nation. She doesnt seem to flash boast about her wealth a lot, but none of the clients here do. She also seems to be open minded as she came of an unusual way of achieving her fortune.

Carlos Slim
"As he has said many times himself, he is not in any competition," Ayub said.

http://blog.vdare.com/archives/2007/04/12/carlos-slim-now-worlds-second-richest-man/

My interpretation
Carlos Slim being so rich, seems like a really confident man, and a man with great power.

All Clients seem to achieve power through their significant capabilities to achieve wealth.

DECISION
I decided to choose Zhang Yin and Carlos Slim as they both can relate to each other, as they both started off building up their own fortune and power. I could use this similarity to influence the journey of the elevator and placement of spaces. They also have unique mind as they take unpredictable actions, which i thought was quite interesting, like studying architecture, recycling cardboard and selling it back

EXP2

UT2004 MODEL http://hosted.filefront.com/Jansenn/
{download jansenexp2.ut2)

Charles darwins space

the subtracted hole in the form brings in dynamic sunlight. creating a "lively atmosphere".

the ramp is straight forward, wastes no time, takes the client straight to the meeting point. It even penetrates through the wall creating another hole, in the lab.

Meeting space

the block in he middle, causes clients to pause and circulate the space, instead of just leaving teh ramp, and going into the next space.

The ceilling hieght starts to descend as u approach Hawkings space, and two extra walls are used to cover his lab. these forms lead to the amalgamation of the "hidden, confined" atmosphere of hawkings lab.

Hawkings space

open area
Hawkings Lab is much darker, with a complexed ramp that lead to different directions (like a dice). giving different possible destination, some hidden some open (like the above pic).
resembling "god sometimes throws dice, where it cannot be seen"

one of the brighter hidden spaces in Hawkings lab

hidden extention of hawkings ramp + a hidden room (hidden)

Darwins space

various lighting effects+textures.
notice how the light spills on to the dark wall, creating a triangle.

lookign up the ramp(inside hole)

looking in (from outside window slit)
Hawkings space

bright hidden space

hidden extention of hawkings ramp

within the shadows

Hidden space/ramp (need to enlarge to see it)

under ramp is also used for hidden spaces. (must enlarge to see hidden space)

diverging ramp

dark, covered passage way towards hawkings space

leaving/entering meeting space, down hawkings ramp

Hawkings space is designed to be concealed form meetign space. It is also a much darker space because it resembles "...where it can not be seen".
The ramp is complex, leading to many possible destinations/results just like a dice.
The ramp descends from meeting space to literally relate to "throwing the dice down to some where we cant see," movement.

Charles darwin space, tries to "value life", by having a much lively space. Plenty of lights and windows and big spaces, unlike thhe confined area of hawkings (hence it was not put inside the wall). The ramp penetrates through both forms to take the client straight towards the meeting space, wasting no time, having a steep slop, bringing the client to the destination throught the shortest and fastest route.

the amalgamation of the two forms/labs can be seen throught the intersection of both forms.
stevens hawkings lab/form slightly pokes out of the vertical wall, with its two prism, which than intersects with Darwins spaces. The two prism poking out are used like facade pillars, having the meeting/entering space in between it, where the ramp goes through.
And Hawkings space amalgamates with the meeting space throught the decending cieling hieghts, and covering walls, which cause the client to twist and turn to search/arrive at the space. keeping with the "hidden theme".
the double walls at the meeting space correlate"... to where they cannot be seen"

Electroliquid Aggregation

Quotes Used:
Charles Darwin "A man that dares to waste one hour of his time has not discovered the value of life"
my interpretation: life is valuable, value life, dont waste your life
key words: waste, time, life, value

Stephen Hawking "Not only does God play dice, but... he sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen."
Keywords: probability, results, hidden, uncertian
my interpretation: results maybe deliberately hidden, we must look for it,
somethings are better off uncertain,
unintentional/undesired results, can be concealed
somethings were never meant to be discovered.
Electroliquid Aggregations
1God does not value life...(life gamble)
2Dont bother looking for the uncertainties in life. dont wast time
3waste time, only when unseen
4God not only wastes his time, but he sometimes doesn't discover the value of playing dice where he cannot be seen.
